Let the redeemed of the Lord say this -

those he redeemed from the hand of the foe.

I sat in darkness and the deepest gloom,

a prisoner suffering in iron chains,
for I had rebelled against the words of God
and despised the counsel of the Most High.

I stumbled,

and there was no one to help.

Then I cried to the Lord in my trouble,

and he saved me from distress.

He brought me out of darkness

and the deepest gloom
and broke away the chains.
