Our Support Of Israel Is Selfish

 JOEL 2:18-27 - 2nd Comentary

“These things happened to them as examples for us. T
hey were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.”
1 Corinthians 10:11 NLT

[STUDY NOTE: OT passages considered to be end time prophecies sometimes defy the rules of what proves a prophet to be a true prophet. Many, however, are given their end time status by Christ and/or the NT writers.]

What If Verses 18-27 Are End Times Prophecies?

Some individuals believe these verses citing driving away the northern armies and healing and restoring the land apply on another level to the end times. Some believe these are being fulfilled literally in our own time.
Never again will my people be disgraced.
Then you will know that I
am among my people Israel,
that I am the Lord your God,
and there is no other
Never again will my people be disgraced.
Joel 2:26b-27 NLT
The more serious question is:

Is This Prophecy Contingent Upon Israel

Returning To God By Embracing Jesus As The Christ?

Remember this passage itself is contingent upon the people and nation returning to God in faithfulness. The New Testament is clear that Jews who do not accept Christ are cut off from God. So the question is, now that Israel  has become a land for Jews, is this return the one spoken of in this passage where clearly the return is a return to God, i.e, since Christ, a return to God by accepting his Messiah.

Is the Israel Currently Occupying the Land

an Apostate Israel or the Faithful Israel?

Since neither the nation nor the majority of individuals in it have turned to God and his Messiah, in fact instead still stand against God's Incarnation as the Messiah, the answer can only be that the land is currently an apostate Israel and not recipients of the miracles of this passage.

If so - now that she is in the land again -

Our Support Of Apostate Israel Is Selfish.

We want her to be blessed so we can get out of here. A purely selfish reason for our political and monetary support. Otherwise we would invest instead in her spiritual salvation - which must occur before Christ's second return.

If We Keep Interfering With  God's Discipline Of Israel

We Are Supporting The Devil And His Agenda.

We are prostituting ourselves to an apostate Israel rather than supporting and honoring our true groom - Jesus Christ.

The great destroying army is an end time prediction and we stand against its fulfillment only this time, if we are honest, because of fear. We do not want to face the worldwide calamity of Armageddon because unless we are raptured we will suffer greatly.

1.  What is the role of the New Israel-the Church in relationship to those who are still part of the apostate Israel?

2.  Are Scriptures a call to hasten the return of Christ by manipulating their fulfillment or the source of knowing when to rejoice as we see scripture coming to pass?

3.  How is God  calling the Church to help prepare Israel to return to him?
