The Minor Prophets Speak to Today
I Am Filled With Awe
Habakkuk 3:1-2
______________________________________________________
I have heard all about you, Lord.
I am filled with awe by your amazing works.
In this time of our deep need,
help us again as you did in years gone by.
And in your anger,
remember your mercy.
I am filled with awe by your amazing works.
In this time of our deep need,
help us again as you did in years gone by.
And in your anger,
remember your mercy.

The Book of Habakkuk ends with a song. The verses above are merely its beginning and the note at the end of the song (vs. 19) tells the choir director that this song-prayer is to be accompanied by stringed instruments.
People who meet God are filled with awe!
- Abraham's response -- Awe
- Moses' response -- Awe
- David's response -- Awe
- Isaiah's response -- Awe
Have you truly met God?
We evangelicals claim a personal meeting and relationship with God. But do we respond with awe? One of the confirmations of meeting God is to be filled with awe. How do you measure against that standard? To experience God is to experience awe!
People who meet God see the world different!
They see it as filled with God's amazing works.
- Works of creation
- Works sustaining creation
- Works in their individual lives
- Works of blessing
- Works of judgement
- Works of God in history
And as we begin to see our world as full of the works of God, we are amazed by his works and they in turn renew our awe at the God we have personally met and the awe of having been granted a meeting.
God, Please Open Our Eyes to See Your Amazing Works!
