The Minor Prophets Speak to Today
God Responds Based on Your Heart
Not Your Words

“O Ephraim and Judah,
what should I do with you?” asks the Lord.
“For your love vanishes like the morning mist
and disappears like dew in the sunlight.
what should I do with you?” asks the Lord.
“For your love vanishes like the morning mist
and disappears like dew in the sunlight.

God responds to Ephraim - the prostitute - and Judah - the unfaithful believers - based on their hearts.
And God's response shows that he knows their heart and their "religion" keep coming up short - coming up unfaithful - coming up false. The same is true for Ephraim, the country God calls a prostitute, and for the worship of Judah, who he still calls his own.
God says, "What should I do with you?"
In a play on words from their own self-centered prayer, he speaks truth to their condition.
"Your love vanishes like the morning mist,
"Disappears like the dew."
That's a love that doesn't last long once the crisis is over - a love that is not sincere. Their love that like their repentance is insincere. Their repentance, even beyond its shortcomings, has no staying power.
O Church, He Cries Out Again Today
"Your love vanishes like the morning mist!
Disappears like the dew in sunlight.
It is unable to stand up
In the presence
Of Truth."
Ephraim and Judah did not get it!
Will we?
