Does Your Preacher Need Prayer - 9/9/2009

Today's Mental Image:
Eviction Sale
A Life Thrown To The Curb
[sadly the above headlines are based on true events]
Evicted Without Recourse
I Wonder If There Was Even Time For Prayer!
--
If the folk in the pew were as quick to pray for the preacher as they are to criticize him, there would be new power in the pulpit immediately.  Preachers stand in need of the prayers of God's people more than anyone else in the household of faith.

_______
Praying For Revival - Pray For The Preacher
If as much time was spent in prayer as is spent in talking about the preacher when he is not present, Jesus would not be so grieved by the heartless words, judgments, and actions thrown the minister's direction.  Churches may have a right to do what they do.  It may, in some cases, even be legal.  But that does not make the accusations, gossips, closed door meetings, punishments, or dismissals God's will.  If as much time was spent praying for the preacher, building a life of daily loving acts toward the preacher, actively loving and understanding the preacher, more ministries would be saved, despite the weaknesses, errors, or even sins of the preacher.  The saying from my Mother's scrapbook is often repeated even in our own day, "If the folk in the pew were as quick to pray for the preacher as they are to criticize him, there would be new power in the pulpit immediately."
But that's what we are afraid of isn't it!!
