Today's Mental Image:
Let us acknowledge the LORD;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains ,
like the spring rains that water the earth."

The prophet Hosea, urges us to press on. Press on for what? Not the "press on" we so quickly substitute for the prophet's words: "I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me." [Phillippians 3:12 NIV] Not: "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Phillippians 3:14 NIV]

No, Hosea urges us to press on to acknowledge God. How quickly we cheapen God by answering Hosea, "I've done that." Perhaps we mistake the beginning for the journey. The journey is much more than the beginning. Acknowledging an infinite God is much more than a human can do in an earthly lifetime.

It is time to take up the promise:
